Sonic Unleashed
Whoa! Another new sonic game is coming out, and this time, it's doesn't seem to be a spinoff. The development of Sonic Unleashed was announced in April 2008. The game runs on Sega's "Hedgehog Engine", which has been in production for three years. Unleashed was originally intended to be the third installment of the Sonic Adventure series and subsequently, at an early development stage, had the working title Sonic World Adventure, complete with work-in-progress logo, before the Unleashed name was decided upon. And that really sucks... It would have been awesome to have another installment to the Adventure series.
The Story Line is, Dr. Eggman is the primary antagonist for Sonic Unleashed. In this installment, he has called forth a slumbering beast from the center of the Earth, which causes such devastating tremors that the planet shatters into pieces; it is up to Sonic to return the seven broken continents back to normal by retrieving the Chaos Emeralds and activating their power.
The official press release alludes to a new twist to Sonic's abilities;
unofficial screenshots, together with the official teaser trailer,
indicate that Sonic's progress will be made even more difficult when he
transforms into a werewolf at night.
Here's Sonic and his new Werewolf Form:
The game could go as a sequal to Sonic and the Secret Rings, but has different modes you can view to play. There's a a 3D-modelled sidescroller, with two-dimensional gameplay (as found in the Sonic Rush and Soinc Rivals
series), with seamless shifts to 3D. Concepts returning from past games
include Sonic's trademark high-speed gameplay, as well as improved
lock-on for automatically targeting and hitting enemies. Sliding across
the ground also returns, but players will be able to perform new
"side-step maneuvers", allowing Sonic to dodge obstacles to the left or
right at high speed. Another new control mechanic, whose final
implementation is still being decided upon by Sega, is "drift turns",
whereby Sonic can slide around a corner.
I don't know if it can be played as if you could in the Sonic adventure Series when your in 3D mode, but from other screenshots, I'm guessing 3D mode is being played like sonic and the Secret Rings. Here are some other screenshots:

Re: Sonic Unleashed
if it has the same control scheme as 'the secret rings' than screw it...
Looks good, great graphics. I like that is has the 2d moments.

Re: Sonic Unleashed
That's the only thing I liked about the secret rings though: the control scheme. it was actually different, something sega hasn't implemented in a sonic game in ages. I'm still not going to touch this one, if it's a direct sequel to that game, my opinion is quickly going to shout do not want.
also, werewolf mode? I thought he was an effin' hedgehog.

It's not a direct sequal to the secret rings. And it's not confirmed if you can play as him when he's a werewolf.
Re: Sonic Unleashed
is it suppose to be like Hulk or something because Sonic is a Hedgehog was he hit with Gamma Rays so he says "dont get the Werewolf that was originally a hedgehog ANGRY"
Re: Sonic Unleashed
pretty much any non classic sonic game makes me fall asleep. after nintendo bought out sega, theyve been doing the sonic games. and they've all sucked.... (well at least to me. no offense sonic fans.) i just want them to actually do somthing non cliche.

Lol, I'm a Sonic fan and not offended. But, this game isn't supposed to be one of those games that nintendo just slaps together real fast so Sonic doesn't die. This is a game that has been at least 3 years in the making. I'm gonna get it, and from videos I've seen, it looks pretty satisfiying.
Re: Sonic Unleashed
well i'll wait and see before i get it..... might play it at a freinds house first or a demo before i get it.

when did nintendo buy sonic??? that explains why the new games suck.
Re: Sonic Unleashed
Nintendo bought Sega a while ago. That's why Sonci games are for Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, etcetera instead of genesis.
Re: Sonic Unleashed
if nintendo bought sonic, he wouldn't be third party, since when was sega all nintendo?
Re: Sonic Unleashed
I think you heard wrong, becuz they still have sonic games coming out for XBOx, XBOX 360, PS2, PS3, and PSP

Re: Sonic Unleashed
nintendo doesnt own sonic they own SEGA, or bought them out. Sonics original creation team never gave up the rights to him, they just usually sold him to SEGA.... or maybe no one owns him LOL.

Re: Sonic Unleashed
Oh yeah! Sonic Team is independent, but Sega is Nintendo. That's why Sonic games are for other systems.
Re: Sonic Unleashed
yeah the problem was that nintendo was trying to change a that the sonic teams did to "fit there system." i think they still havent gotten over the fact that sonic was competing with mario for awhile. and in the lead quite a bit.
